Cape Carteret Renovation

Project Overview:

After moving to the Crystal Coast, my husband and I purchased this home and approached the renovation as a complete, full-home project. Unlike our Apex ranch, which evolved gradually over seven years, this renovation was planned and completed all at once.

It became my first full-home renovation under Ruby Peach Design and gave me the opportunity to apply everything I had learned through years of renovating, planning, and designing for the way our family truly lives.

Design Intent:

The goal was to create a warm, character-filled coastal home that felt relaxed and personal without feeling overly themed. Every space needed to function well for everyday family life while still feeling thoughtful, collected, and connected.

Natural materials, warm wood tones, soft coastal colors, semi-custom cabinetry, and timeless architectural details were carried throughout the home to create a cohesive design that feels both elevated and comfortable.

My Approach:

Because the entire home was renovated at once, thoughtful planning before construction began was essential. Floor plans, 3D visualizations, cabinetry designs, and finish selections were developed together so that each space felt connected and the overall vision remained clear throughout construction.

The approach focused on:

  • Improving the home’s layout, flow, and everyday functionality

  • Creating cabinetry designed around the needs of each space

  • Using 3D visualizations to work through important decisions before construction

  • Carrying cohesive materials, colors, and architectural details throughout the home

  • Balancing coastal character with warmth, comfort, and timeless design

The finished home reflects the way our family lives and everything I value about thoughtful renovation: careful planning, meaningful details, and spaces that feel personal, welcoming, and built for real life.

Professional Photos Coming Soon!

Here’s a little sneak peek in the meantime. You can find more photos and videos from the renovation on my Instagram page.

The Result:

The finished home feels warm, cohesive, and deeply personal. Each space has its own character while still connecting naturally to the rest of the home through consistent materials, colors, cabinetry, and architectural details.

More importantly, the home functions beautifully for our everyday family life. It reflects everything I value about thoughtful renovation: careful planning, meaningful details, and spaces that feel welcoming, comfortable, and designed to last.
